Shadow Coding

In 2019, the Playful Invention Company teamed up with the Montreal Science Centre to create an interactive, coding based exhibit called “Code des Ombres” (Shadow Coding). The exhibit consists of programmable lights and a turntable. The lights can be made to change colours, casting colourful shadows upon the objects on the turntable, which then moves according to how the motor has been programmed, changing the shadows being cast. The exhibit demonstrates the creative potentials of coding and gets children involved in the process with an easy to grasp block-based coding language, similar to our previous projects like Scratch Jr.

This project was inspired by the lightplay project of the Tinkering Studio.
